MEAK proposes to make two annual surgical missions to Kenya, one to Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi and one to The Mombasa Hospital in Mombasa. Each mission will be funded by MEAK at an estimated cost of around £20,000.

It is anticipated that each trip will comprise 17 medical personnel from either Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, or The Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital, plus two self-funding medical students and MEAK support.

It should be noted that nobody receives any payment for these trips and give up annual holiday leave in order to attend. For their kindness and generosity they get to work incredibly hard for very long hours each day in trying and stressful conditions. We are always in awe of their dedication and expertise. Without their compassion and altruism none of our work would be possible.
